Mumbai- The MHADA, the state housing authority, has begun the construction of homes near Bombay Dyeing and Shri Niwas for the city's displaced mill workers. Despite this, the mill workers are being asked to relocate outside Mumbai. In protest against this, the workers staged a protest on Monday demanding that they be allotted homes in Mumbai itself. They said they would not accept the lottery for allotment of homes scheduled for 2 December. The mill workers put forth their demands to MHADA chief officer Subhash Lakhe, who however, said that MHADA cannot interfere in the state government’s decision. “We will not give up our right and we will fight against it and this time it will be a fierce one,” saidMill Mazdoor Ekta spokesperson B K Ambre.
