Mumbai- The Andheri Metropolitan court has ruled that work on the Metro 3 project will not be conducted between 10 pm to 6 am in the Marol Gaothan area.

The court has ruled that the contractors and MMRDA officials will have to halt work at 10 pm and that sound levels of the construction activity should also be kept in check.

The Marol Gaothan residents had complained to the contractor and MMRDA officials about the grating sound of the heavy machinery used for the construction work on the Metro 3 project. Residents had complained that the activity through the night was causing them sleepless nights.

The residents allege that in spite of repeated requests and complaints, the contractors and MMRDA officials were not ready to oblige. Following media reports and the court ruling now, the contractors have been forced to keep work at a halt between 10 pm and 6 am.

The residents have a fresh complaint now, however. They say they would prefer the installation of sound bearing systems to keep the decibel levels in check during the afternoon when the construction activity is in full swing.
