In order to prevent traffic congestion due to construction at the DN Nagar-BKC Metro-2B corridor, which is likely to commence by next year February 2018, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has put forth a proposal asking all national and multinational companies who have offices in Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) to alter work hours.

MMRDA to stagger office timings in BKC offices

MMRDA believes that staggering office timings will help to ease the traffic movement in the area. BKC which is known as a commercial hub has a footfall of around two lakh employees who commute to BKC on a daily basis for work.

By February 2018, MMRDA will start its civil construction work on the DN Nagar-BKC Metro for which one lane on both sides of BKC will be cordoned off. Along with this, a flyover will be constructed in 2018 which will connect Kala Nagar junction to Bandra-Worli Sea Link. This will add on to the traffic woes.

We will stagger office timings by January 2018 to ease traffic during Metro construction work,” Pravin Darade, Additional Metropolitan Commissioner, MMRDA.

BKC’s new office timings

Currently, the office timings in BKC range from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm and from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm. However, by next year, the offices will open from 8:00 am onwards and will close by 7:00 pm. The offices will choose their own timings as per their convenience.
