MMRDA to purchase 10 truck mounted boom lifts for security measures

After starting its operations again, the monorail has been getting a good response from the passengers and the number of commuters are also increasing. As this happened, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is seeking experts to suggest the security measures for the monorail. 

Meanwhile, the MMRDA is also purchasing 10 truck mounted boom lifts trucks in order to ensure the safety of the passengers during emergency situations. Along with this, the MMRDA is also keen on exploring the measures that could be used to evacuate commuters in case of a disaster. 

An MMRDA officer informed that the development authority has already appointed a Singapore-based company to provide security suggestions for both phases of the monorail. The visit to the company will be arranged for them to examine monorail’s route and stations.

Earlier, the first phase of the monorail was shut down for months after it caught fire while in the second phase, the commuters were stuck inside the monorail due to power cut.
