Mumbai on fast track to becoming a 'Metro' city

Mumbai - In a bid to give a boost to the cities in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), the city's planning authorities have extended the proposed metro network in the metropolitan region.

MMRDA Senior Officer PRK Murthy told Mumbai Live that a proposal has been sent to the government about the commencement of metro projects which include the Lokhandwala-Kanjurmarg corridor (Metro 6) and Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan (Metro 5).

The civil construction of the city’s three Metro corridors — Metro-3 (Colaba-Bandra-SEEPZ) corridor is currently underway. 

The civil construction of Metro 2B (DN Nagar-BKC-Mankhurd) corridor, Metro-4 (Wadala-Ghatkopar-Thane-Kasarvadavali) and Metro-7 (Dahisar east-Andheri east) is expected to start soon.
