The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) inspected the BKC-Vakola connector being developed under Phase 2 of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) project on Friday, May 29. Senior officials reviewed the progress of the work and directed contractors and project agencies to speed up the remaining construction while maintaining safety and quality standards.

The inspection was carried out by MMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Sanjay Mukherjee and Additional Metropolitan Commissioner-1 Vikram Kumar. During the visit, they assessed the ongoing work at the project site and reviewed the status of the remaining activities.

After examining the progress, the officials instructed contractors, project agencies and other concerned officials to complete the final works at the earliest. They also talked about following safety measures and maintaining construction quality during the completion stage.

According to MMRDA, the second phase of the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road project is nearing completion. Around 98 per cent of the physical work has already been completed. The project has been developed in different stages over the years to improve east-west connectivity across Mumbai.

The SCLR corridor includes several connecting arms, elevated stretches and major interchanges. It links important transport routes across the city and is designed to improve movement between key locations.

Once Phase 2 becomes operational, the corridor will provide seamless connectivity between the Eastern Express Highway, Western Express Highway, Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC), Santacruz, Chembur, Kalina and Kurla.

It will reduce travel time by nearly 35 minutes. The final phase will allow the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road to function as a fully integrated urban mobility network.
