The Maharashtra state government has granted administrative approval for the Bandra Fort Connector Project in Mumbai, a 3.55-kilometre, four-lane (2+2) road that will pass near Hotel Taj Lands End and Bandra Fort.
The proposed connector will link the Bandra end of the under-construction Swatantryaveer Savarkar Sagari Setu, also known as the Versova-Bandra Sea Link, with key areas of Bandra West. The new route is expected to provide motorists travelling from the Sea Link towards Bandra West, Pali Hill, Bandra Fort and Taj Lands End with an alternative route and help reduce congestion on existing roads.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) will execute the project. The estimated cost of the Bandra Fort connector is ₹1,722.40 crore, including approximately ₹1,183.79 crore for civil construction, along with other project-related expenses and GST.
The connector is being developed as part of the broader Versova-Bandra Sea Link project.
At present, the approximately 2.6-kilometre stretch between the Sea Link toll plaza and Pali Hill is narrow, with mostly a 1+1 lane configuration. During peak traffic hours, the short journey can take 20 to 30 minutes, resulting in significant delays for motorists.
The proposed 3.55-kilometre connector will have four lanes, ramps and loops, increasing road capacity and improving connectivity between the Sea Link and Bandra West.

The connector is also expected to play an important role in easing congestion around the Pali Hill and Bandra Fort–Taj Lands End areas, which experience heavy traffic, especially during peak hours.
The demand for an additional connector at the Bandra Fort end of the Sea Link was raised by Adv. Ashish Shelar, Guardian Minister of Mumbai Suburbs and a Cabinet Minister.
Following this, the MSRDC submitted a proposal to the Public Works Department (PWD) on August 19, 2024, seeking approval for the additional connector.
The project has now received formal administrative approval through a Government Resolution dated July 28, 2026, authorising the MSRDC to construct the additional connector at the Bandra Fort end of the Sea Link.
The Bandra Fort connector is expected to become an important link in Mumbai's western road network once completed. By providing a wider four-lane route between the Sea Link and Bandra West, the project aims to improve traffic flow and reduce pressure on the existing narrow road connecting the Sea Link toll plaza with Pali Hill.
With the Versova-Bandra Sea Link and the proposed Bandra Fort connector forming part of an integrated road network, the project could significantly improve access to Bandra West, Pali Hill, Bandra Fort and the Taj Lands End area, while offering motorists an alternative route to avoid existing congestion.
