On Thursday, April 7, Mumbai suburban guardian minister and Maharashtra minister of environment and tourism, Aaditya Thackeray visited the viewing deck the authorities have built over the stormwater drain outfall in Walkeshwar.
This will be the second after the recently opened in Dadar. Thackeray added that soon it will be complete and become accessible to tourists and citizens alike. His tweet read, "Visited the viewing deck we’ve made over the stormwater drain outfall at Walkeshwar, after the one at Dadar. Very soon, it’ll be complete and open to tourists and citizens!"

While the Dadar Chowpatty deck was inaugurated back on February 9, the soon to be opened deck at Walkeshwar will offer visitors a serene view of the Arabian Sea.
This viewing deck at Girgaum is built over a stormwater drainage outfall on the beach and the approximate area of the deck would be 500 square feet. It will be semi-circular with seating areas and public restrooms.
Based on accounts, the deck will be illuminated aesthetically to garner tourist attention. The cost of the project has been pegged at ₹5 crores, Prashant Gaikwad, assistant municipal commissioner, who is in charge of this project, was quoted as saying.
Apart from these decks, Mumbai's oldest viewing deck is said to be at the top of Malabar Hill.
