Mumbai: 70 percent work of Mandale carshed of Metro 2B line completed

The MMRDA intends to complete the rest of the works as soon as possible and bring the 'Metro 2B' line into service by 2024

D. N. Nagar, Andheri West-Mandale Metro 2B Line carshed work has picked up speed. So far, 70 percent of the work of the car shed has been completed. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) intends to complete the rest of the works as soon as possible and bring the 'Metro 2B' line into service by 2024.


The 'Metro 2B' line is an important line of the 337 km metro project undertaken by MMRDA. This route is 23.64 km long and this route will make it easy to go from western suburbs to eastern suburbs. A car shed is being constructed on 31 acres of land in Mandale for this route. 72 metro trains can be parked in this carshed at a time. Meanwhile, the work of this route will be completed in 2024 and this route will be put into traffic service. Therefore, MMRDA has speeded up the work of the car shed.

So far, 70 percent of the work of the car shed has been completed. Of this, 96 percent of the 'Stabling Casting Yard Phase 1' and 36 percent of the 'Stabling Casting Yard Phase 2' have been completed. 75 percent of the tracks for testing the trains have been completed. Overall, the work of the car shed is going on at a fast pace and it is being claimed that the work of 'Metro 2 B' route along with the car shed will be completed in 2024.
