Recently, Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) imposed fines on seven developers for advertising their housing projects without mentioning the MahaRERA website and registration numbers as per norms. Mumbai Grahak Panchayat has revealed more 31 names of builders who did not mention MahaRERA website while advertising their projects.

Shirish Deshpande, President of Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP) said that they complained against 31 builders on February 9, 2018.

After the complaint was filed by Mumbai Grahak Panchayat, a fine of ₹2 lakh each was imposed on - Goodtimes, Rikki Ronie, Ashar Realtors, Puraniks, Lashkaria Housing Sandeep Landge and Kabra & Associates. The Kabra & Associates were fined an additional penalty of ₹10 lakh for false advertisement.

Along with seven guilty developers, Mumbai’s Grahak Panchayat found out 31 developers who were guilty. Prominent developers such as Chaitnya Srushti, Arihant, Strawberry Park, Soft Corner, Metro One, Karma Infrastructure, Ashar, Wadhwa Group, Sumit Group and many others are found guilty of violating MahaRERA’s norms.

Deshpande said that such ads have been appearing for a long time and demanded that such promoters should be penalised at least 5 to 10 per cent of the project cost as mandated by Sections 61 and 59 of RERA respectively
