Mumbai: Income limit increased for 'EWS' from INR 3 lakhs to INR 6 lakhs

The Union Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has issued an order in this regard and relief has come to lakhs of citizens

Mumbai: Income limit increased for 'EWS' from INR 3 lakhs to INR 6 lakhs

For affordable housing under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the income limit for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) in Mumbai metropolitan area has been increased from INR 3 lakhs to INR 6 lakhs. 


The Union Ministry of Urban Development and Housing has issued an order in this regard and relief has come to lakhs of citizens who applied for MHADA, CIDCO houses. In this regard, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had requested the central government last month. This was then followed up by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Additional Chief Secretary of the State Housing Department, Valsa Nair Singh, had mentioned in a program recently that there is a need to set criteria different from others in order to make affordable housing available to more citizens in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation and the metropolitan area.
