Mumbai: Remaining winners of 2020 draw for mill workers to get house possession till August 15

162 people were given the possession of the houses in Bombay Dyeing Textile Mill, Bombay Dyeing Spring Mill and Srinivas Mill of 3894 houses that were up for the lottery. Now all the remaining winners will be given possession of the house by August 15, informed MLA Sunil Rane, President of the Mill Workers Co-Control Committee. The issue of houses for mill workers has been pending for 22 years and it seems that this issue is not going away. Therefore, a meeting was organised at the Sharda Mangal office of the Marathi Granth Museum on Sunday to decide the next direction to resolve the housing issue.

The issue of houses for mill workers is serious and one and a half lakh workers are still waiting from their homes. So far no policy has been devised by the state government to provide housing to these one and a half lakh workers. Therefore, the main demand of the workers is to announce a policy to provide housing to one and a half lakh workers. Due to various reasons, there is a delay in the possession of the houses for which the lottery has been conducted to the winners of the lottery. There are many such questions of the mill workers and a meeting was organised on Sunday to discuss them and decide what needs to be done to solve these questions.

On this occasion, Rane expressed his belief that efforts will be made to provide houses to all the workers. Over 3,500 winners of the 2020 lottery for mill workers' houses will be given possession of the houses by August 15, he said.
