The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had recently taken measures to upgrade the roads in preparation for the visit of G20 representatives to ensure a smooth and seamless experience for delegates. However, it has come to light that the civic body has spent INR 10 crore on road maintenance.

The amount was approved by the BMC administrator, Iqbal Singh Chahal, after the conference.

The G20 representatives travelled to Mumbai on December 12-15, 2022. To make their journey as comfortable as possible, the local government went to great lengths to repair and resurface the roads between Mumbai Airport and the Gateway of India, as well as the Military Camp Road, CSMT Road, and the route from the airport to the Western Express Highway (WEH).

With a view to future international events, the civic council has set aside INR 12 million for resurfacing roads in Andheri and Jogeshwari. The focus of the resurfacing is on roads that have not yet been concretized. The plan involves a network of 11 roads, totaling 200 kilometers, that will be resurfaced over the next three months. This includes roads such as Dadabhai Cross Route No. 2, Bhagat Singh Road, Narsee Monjee Road, Saint Xavier's Road, Vaishali Nagar Road, road from Versova Municipal School to Posha Nakhva Garden, Upasana Lane, Lokhandwala Cross Lane 4 and Dawood Baug Road.

The resurfacing of these roads will be done in phases in the next three months, allowing for a smooth and organized process.
