The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has finished 80 per cent of the work on the swimming pools it is building in Malad and Dahisar, with them likely to get commissioned in September 2022, reported the Free Press Journal.

Presently, the BMC has swimming polls at Dadar in Shivaji Park, Chembur, Mulund, Kandivali and Andheri in Shahaji Raje Sports Complex. According to the report, considering the growing demand, the civic body decided to work on six additional swimming pools in Mumbai. Thus, the ones at Malad and Dahisar are part of this scheme. 

Based on the narrative, the BMC has a target of having a swimming pool in every ward. In accordance with the plan, the new pools are being built at Gyandhara Garden in Dahisar, Ramabai Ambedkar Nagar in Govandi, Kondivita (Andheri East), Indira Gandhi Manoranjan Maidan (Andheri West), Chacha Nehru Garden in Malad and Worli Hill reservoir.

Kishor Gandhi, deputy municipal commissioner was quoted in the narrative elaborating on how since the work on the Malad and Dahisar swimming pools will be finished in the next month, they will be opened to the public in September after the monsoon. 

Gandhi added that the one in Andheri will open in March 2023, and work on the Vikhroli and Worli swimming pools will be finished by May 2023.
