The Maharashtra government has signed a major agreement to establish the Africa India Business Centre (AIBC) in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, aiming to strengthen trade, investment, and cultural ties between India and African nations. The project will be developed jointly by CIDCO and the Africa India Economic Foundation through a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV).

The proposed business hub will come up on around 20 acres in the International Corporate Park near the upcoming Navi Mumbai International Airport. It will include a central business tower with offices for 54 African countries, a large convention and exhibition centre, hotels, serviced apartments, retail and cultural spaces, and an “Africa-India Bio Dome.”

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said the project would position Maharashtra as a key gateway for India-Africa business relations and boost employment, MSME growth, and foreign investment. Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar were also present during the signing ceremony.

According to officials, the centre is inspired by global trade hubs like Dubai World Trade Centre and is expected to host more than 250 international events annually once operational. The project is expected to be completed within the next 5–6 years.
