It is been a month since Real Estate Regulatory Authority has come into existence and only 19 developers and 1040 real estate agents have registered with the authority. The objective of this authority was to act against guilty developers and so developers were asked to register with the authority. But very few developers came forward to register themselves, said MAHAReRa’s president Gautam Chatterjee.
According to the authority, developers who did not get NOC before 1 May had to register themselves with MAHRAReRa authority. It is mandatory for the statewide builders to register themselves until 31 July. But still, builders are showing less interest. So far, only 19 builders have come forward to register themselves. “I don't think builders are serious about this authority. Also, developers who have registered themselves with the authority have got the number which was supposed to be put up on the website. But it is not updated,” said RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar.
Maharashtra Societies Welfare Association’s president Ramesh Prabhu second RTI activist adding that the developers are not giving importance. But he believes that the interest will develop slowly and gradually. “This is new for builders and so they will take the time to understand. Once it is sorted, registrations will increase by July, for sure,” said Prabhu.
