On Wednesday, November 10, nearly after 4 months, the Oshiwara bridge is now open for vehicular movement, highlighted reports. Mumbai's western suburb bridge was shut after heavy rains that occurred on July 17-18 midnight this year.

It was the same day where two landslides were reported in the city at Vikhroli, Mahul.

The rains in July had washed away the asphalt surface and exposed the concrete slab. The same had to be repaired, said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials.

An account by the Times of India quoted Satish Thosar, the Chief engineer of bridges, stating that they are working on increasing the width of the entire stretch. For now, they are allowing only light motor vehicles to use the bridge.

Since the bridge was suspended, it was causing traffic jams in the locality because the alternate access was a single lane road, locals said.

The narrative also mentioned, Deepak Thakur, a Goregaon corporator, saying that they held joint meetings with the concerned authorities to make sure that the bridge was opened as soon as possible.

The bridge is located at the junction of S V Road and Ram Mandir. It connects Mrinaltai Gore Flyover for east-to-west travel and is an important connector for entry and exit into Goregaon. It is also a crucial bridge for motorists from Lokhandwala, Oshiwara, wanting to head towards Malad and Kandivali.
