In a major step toward fulfilling the dream of homeownership for thousands of families, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) organised the Konkan Board Housing Lottery 2025 in Thane. The event, inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and Thane Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde, saw 5,354 houses and 77 plots allotted through a fully computerised draw, symbolising a transparent and inclusive housing initiative. Held at Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar Natyagruha, the ceremony was attended by prominent leaders, including Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik, MP Naresh Mhaske, MLA Niranjan Davkhare, District Collector Dr. Shrikrishna Panchal, and MHADA’s top officials — Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal and Konkan Board Chief Officer Revati Gaikar.

Deputy CM Shinde described the day as one of “happiness for thousands of families,” noting that a home represents “safety, dignity, and prosperity.” He expressed appreciation for MHADA’s efforts in turning this long-cherished aspiration into reality, stressing that the entire allotment process had been conducted with utmost transparency. “No personal recommendations or influence are entertained,” he stated, highlighting that over 1.84 lakh applications had been received for the 5,354 available units — a testament to public confidence in MHADA’s affordable housing schemes.

The Deputy CM underlined that MHADA’s new housing policy gives priority to working women, senior citizens, students, and mill workers, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Housing for All’ vision. He also mentioned Maharashtra’s contribution through large-scale cluster redevelopment projects across Mumbai and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which aim to create lakhs of modern homes equipped with open spaces, medical facilities, and recreational areas.

Shinde further observed that the reduction in GST slabs has eased financial burdens for salaried and middle-income families, making homeownership more attainable. Maharashtra, he added, has also emerged as the first state in India to adopt a dedicated housing policy for senior citizens, reflecting its commitment to inclusive urban development.

Calling MHADA “a symbol of trust that brings happiness to people’s lives,” Shinde emphasised that cluster redevelopment projects would play a vital role in reshaping the skyline of Mumbai and its suburbs. The initiative, he said, will not only address the city’s housing shortage but also enhance the quality of life through integrated infrastructure and sustainable planning.

The event began with a welcome address by MHADA Vice President and CEO Sanjeev Jaiswal, who reiterated the authority’s focus on transparency, digital efficiency, and affordable housing solutions for all segments of society. The draw was carried out in the presence of officials and public representatives, reinforcing MHADA’s reputation as a reliable and people-centric housing institution. The 2025 Konkan Board Lottery thus marked another milestone in Maharashtra’s ongoing housing mission — one that brings the state closer to the goal of ensuring that every family has a safe, dignified, and affordable place to call home.
