On Saturday, November 21, in a four-hour-long mega block on the Kalyan-Dombivali rail route, the first phase of the open web girder for the new Patripool Rail Over Bridge (RoB) was launched.

This RoB is a part of the vital Kalyan-Shilphata stretch. Moreover, out of the 76.67m-long girder, the 41m portion was launched while the remaining 35m will be launched on Sunday, November 22.

As per reports, the entire launch was noted through a drone camera at the site. Moreover, in a bid to ensure that the safety at the launching site remains safe to secure the smooth movement of traffic, a total of 300 police personnel from the Railway Protection Force, local police and traffic police were deployed at the spot and different parts of the city.

On the other hand, amidst the COVID-19 crisis, bus services connecting Navi Mumbai on the Kalyan-Vashi and Kalyan- Konkan Bhavan- CBD Belapur routes were called off by the civic transport body along with all other routes. However, after several complaints from the passengers, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Transport (KDMT) resumed its civic bus services on these routes on November 7, as this is one of the popular routes in the city many people travel to Vashi and Konkan Bhavan from Kalyan for work.

The KDMT that initiated its services from Kalyan Dombivli since 1999, had added the Kalyan-Vashi route in 2001 and Dombivli-Vashi route in 2007-08. The Shreeram Chowk - Vashi route service was also added in 2008. However, these routes were cancelled by the KDMT several times due to lack of passengers in the past.
