On Friday morning, a power outage was reported from Maharashtra Secretariat Building, located in South Bombay, due to high voltage at Nariman Point receiving point.

The incident occurred due to tripping of a feeder at 11:55 am. Due to this outage, the power supply was cut off at a few other buildings in Nariman Point -- the power supply to Mantralaya, Foreshore Road, and Maharshi Karve Road.

According to Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) PRO, as the soon as the outage was reported, BEST's engineers and technicians were deployed for restoration. As a result, the power supply was restored within 15-20 minutes and is now back to normalcy.

The secretariat had come to still as various departments handling crucial government files are online now.

Last year on October 12, a similar incident took place when a massive power outage brought Mumbai to a complete halt. The state and Centre constituted committees to investigate the reasons behind the incident. There were even reports that pegged that Chinese hackers were behind that outage. However, the Centre has ruled that out and is probing this matter.
