Politicians have often hogged the credit for setting up open gyms.
This time round, assistant municipal commissioner Udaykumar Shirurkar has taken the lead in setting up a facility that will help in upping the physical fitness quotient of citizens in B ward.
Shirurkar has helped put up an open gym at Sandhurst Road's Sitaram Shenoy Maidan. Open to all, this facility boasts modern equipment andd state of the art infrastructure. Senior citizens too will be able to avail of this facility, he says.
Since it is a free facility, citizens have shown an enthusiastic response to the open gym. Work commenced on this facility three months ago, and equipment has been placed at five different spots at the maidan to enable citizens to enjoy their benefits.
