The Western Railway (WR) last year constructed a 314-metre long skywalk connecting the Khar suburban station to Bandra Terminus. Similarly, the railways have now decided to link Bandra station and Bandra terminus.

This will allow passengers to reach the terminus without having to step out of the Bandra station premises. Apart from this, the arbitrary behavior of auto drivers will also come to an end.

The Skywalk at Bandra station will be the longest at about 340 meters. It will connect the foot over bridge (FOB) at the northern end of the station to the FOB at the southern end of the terminus. The cost of this project is around INR 24.62 crore.

A connector between the terminus and the station has been demanded by commuters for some time as it is difficult for them to reach by road.

Now, the issue of going to Bandra terminus from both sides will be over forever, said a senior official.

In addition to this, the local station at Khar is also being upgraded into a two-deck, which will allow it to take up the load.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is working on the skywalk, which has been stuck in red tape, independently. At the same time, WR has managed to build a good network of bridges at Bandra station since the BMC skywalk was shut down.
