This comes in the backdrop of rising electricity consumption which has now increased by around 53 per cent as compared to the early months of the COVID-19 lockdown. The power generation at this capacity should help meet the demands of power consumers across the state.

“The thermal generation total capacity was 74% or 9750 MW. Today, seven thermal power stations collectively generated 8,104 MW to meet the demand from consumers, especially when the temperature is rising,” a senior official from Mahagenco said.
