Road works are underway at various places under the INR 605 crore fund provided to Thane city by the state government to provide good quality pothole free roads to the citizens. These works were recently inspected by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. As during this inspection, errors were found regarding road cleaning and other works, Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar issued a show cause notice to the Executive Engineer and imposed a fine of INR 5 lakh on the contractor.


Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited Thane city last week (on May 22) to inspect road and drain cleaning works. During this inspection tour, the sewerage work at Conwood Chowk, Vasant Vihar has been inspected and a show cause notice has been issued to the Executive Engineer for the delay in the work.

Notice to garden contractors

It was found that the road from Tikujiniwadi Circle to Neelkanth Road bifurcation and Harit Janpath was not properly cared for and maintained. The trees are in a dry state at this place. Also, sewage, plastic and other wastes were seen in the said place. As vacant spaces were noticed in Harit Janpath, Messers Nisarga Landscape Pvt. Ltd. contractor of this company was issued a show cause notice by the Commissioner. Also, in the said notice, instructions have been given to remove dry trees and plant new trees there, to plant new trees in open spaces and to remove wild grass trees.


Also, as the trees were not watered regularly, as the trees were found in a dry state, according to the instructions of the Chief Minister, the contractor of Messers Pioneer Outdoor Media Solutions Pvt. Ltd. was issued a show cause notice.

INR 5 lakh fine to the contractor

Messrs R.P. S Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. were entrusted with work of asphalting roads at Vartaknagar, Lokmanya-Savarkarnagar, Naupada, Kopri, Kalwa Ward Committee of Vartaknagar, Lokmanya-Savarkarnagar. However, no safety measures were observed during this work. It was found that safety shoes, hand gloves, helmets were not provided to the labourers who were working in mastic, asphalting work to be done by asphalt method, so this contractor company has been fined INR 5 lakh.



Notice to road cleaning contractor too

The contract for road cleaning in Pawar Nagar, which comes under Vartak Nagar Ward Committee, has been given to the company Venkatesha. It was also found that the employees working on the road were not provided with gloves and other safety equipment. A fine of INR 10,000 has been imposed on the concerned contractor after a notice has been issued to the concerned contractor due to the presence of piles of garbage at various places on the road.
