Popular location in Thane East, the Ashtavinayak Chowk in Kopri, is being beautified and keeping the quality standards in mind, Abhijit Bangar, the Municipal Commissioner of Thane district has asked the authorities to blacklist the contractor as the latter has delivered poor standard of work.

As per reports published in the Hindustan Times, the officials have not like the beautification work that has been completed and this has not been tolerated by the department. Several complaints have been received regarding the same and to regulate the project Bangar decided to pay a surprise visit at the location, eventually issuing a notice to the executive engineer, who further clarified that payments for the project are yet to be made and that the work began without confirmation or intimation.

Orders have been given to blacklist the contractor. Furthermore, a compliance report will also be sent regarding the same. Expressing the displeasure on the management, officials in the government like the junior, deputy and executive engineers have been told to make a note of the same and take charge as no projects can be started on their own by the contractor. Moreover, regular inspection of the work to ensure quality, efficiency and other aspects have to be considered strictly.

Visits were paid to Ganesh Visarjan Ghat, and Bangar also gave suggestions to improving the lighting, garbage removal plan, cleanliness of the spot, security aspects and more. Officials have been asked to ensure the project is completed to perfection in the given timeline at all locations, including waterfront development in Kopri.

Meanwhile, visit was also paid at Saket Complex Road, Kalwa bridge, and other parts of the city where preparations like a garden, jogging track, seating arrangements, gazebos etc. have been planned for children and senior citizens to enjoy the facilities.
