Mumbai - Tonnes of waste stacked up in the dumping ground of Mulund, Kanjurmarg and Deonar remains underutilized. BMC was to utilize the waste in producing electricity. The first trial step has already been taken and it has worked out in Kanjurmarg dumping zone. BMC will consume three thousand metric tonnes of waste from Deonar dumping ground to produce electricity. The tender of the scheme was released in October and scheme shall commence from January 2017. Around 1 crore expense is expected to be incurred to implement the scheme.
