Mumbai- It's the time of year when going well dressed to a party is passe. For the last few days, Mumbai is witnessing parties where you can see vampires, witches and clowns tinkling glasses with each other.
These are Halloween parties. Halloween, also called All Hallows’ Eve, is a yearly holiday observed on October 31, the eve of the Western Christian feast of All Hallows (or All Saints). All Hallows' Eve is a Christianised feast influenced by western European harvest festivals, and pagan festivals of the dead,
Halloween is observed primarily in regions of the Western world. Typical festive Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, carving pumpkins into lanterns, lighting bonfires and playing pranks.
Originally a western festival, it is now increasingly celebrated in Indian metros as well. Mumbai has hordes of parties on the Halloween theme. Stores are currently selling costumes specially made for Halloween. And people are spending time and money to get " that " perfect scary look . As a Bandra-based event organiser Mary Lobo said, "This is the time of year you want to look weird and scary. The more the better because the weirdest and scariest gets the prize and attention too."
