What is Law Tryst?


Students from various colleges studying Law across the nation attended Law Tryst, national legal festival organised by SVKM Jitendra Chauhan College of Law which happened from March 9 to 11. The festival had a theme of ‘Economic Crimes’ and had events such as the National Moot Court Competition, National Model Parliament, Larger than Life and Agree to Disagree that revolved around the theme.


National Festival of Law


Every year law colleges from cities like Mumbai, Pune, Sangli, Bangalore, Delhi, Amritsar, Jaipur, and Lucknow participate in Law Tryst. Priya Shah, the Principal of the college expressed how they were proud of their students for conducting the National Legal Fest efficiently. The festival is organised annually since 2000 as a platform for law students across the nation for expressing their views and enhancing their skills.


Presence of dignitaries of Law


The Moot Court is a mock court where law students argue over imaginary cases for practice. Justice Nitin Sambre and Justice P. D. Naik of the Bombay High Court judged the finale of National Moot Court. The Semi-Final of the event was judged by Arpan Rajput, Advocate Bombay High Court, Yusuf Iqbal, Advocate Supreme Court of India and Udaipur. Another major event, National Model Parliament was attended by personalities such as Priyanka Chaturvedi, National Spokesperson of Congress; Manish Awasthi, National Political Editor of India News; Mayank Gandhi, Social Activist; Anand Sinha, Ex-Deputy Governor, Reserve Bank of India and Advocate Ameet Mehta.

Zain Javed Shroff, Chairperson of Law Tryst thanked his Principal and Faculty for their immense faith in his team. He repeatedly thanked his team for their consistent efforts and was pleased for being able to do his best during National Legal Fest.

Lordship Justice P.D. Naik, formerly a Guest faculty in the college several years ago was privileged to come back to the college. He told the students how ‘such competitions’ did not exist during his time and encouraged them to arrange as well as participate in such events.
