If you think about Bollywood music from the last decade, the first thing that comes to one's mind is the endless bombardment of tasteless remixes and item numbers. There have been songs which can be forgotten as they are composed purely for commercial purposes. But if one rises up from the remix culture, there are few songs and albums that music directors from the Hindi film world have delivered every year.

Keeping that in mind, we curated the top 100 songs from a list of 53 films which released in the last decade. These songs have stood the test of time and have remained audience's favourite for a long time. The list is void of any pop song or item numbers, and these are songs with purely good music paired with impressive writing.

The list begins with 2010's freedom fueled 'Aazaadiyaan Pairon Ki Bediyan (Udaan)' to another freedom fueled song 'Azadi'  from 2019's explosive hip-hop album of 'Gully Boy.'  Be it any time in history, Azadi (freedom) has been a recurring theme be in society's culture or music.

THE TOP 100 PLAYLIST

2011 was a great year for music lovers as Bollywood delivered three beautiful albums in the same year - Rockstar, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara and Dum Maaro Dum. Even today, songs from these albums have been playing regularly, at different occasions.  In our list, Rockstar's album takes the number one spot as it has the most number of songs - six. There are house parties in different parts of India (or even globally) where post some rounds of alcohol, someone ends up playing at least one song from Rockstar. It is mandatory!

The list is incomplete without the experimental music composed by Sneha Khanwalkar in Gangs of Wasseypur 1 & 2. She's probably also the only female composer in this list. Tracks like 'Ik Bagal' still manages to sooth the soul, thanks to Piyush Mishra's lyrical talent in this song. I would recommend one to binge watch the making on GOW songs on YouTube to see how the film's music was brought to life. Credit to this film's music also goes to Director Anurag Kashyap  who gives his composers a year or two for making the original albums. His 2018 film, Manmarziyaan's songs composed by Amit Trivedi also made it to our list.

Note: Music, like any other art form is taste based. The songs mentioned above in the list reflect the taste of an individual and may differ from another individual's liking.
