The Mumbai Suburban District collector on Friday, January 29, approved a total draft of INR 376.09 crores for the financial year 2021-22.

This decision was taken at a Mumbai Suburban District Planning Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Cabinet Minister Aaditya Thackeray.

This meeting was held at District Collector Office in Bandra. Industries Minister Subhash Desai, Skill Development Minister Nawab Malik, Transport Minister Ed. Anil Parab, Textiles Minister Aslam Sheikh, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar, Skill Development Secretary Anshu Sinha, Mumbai Municipal Corporation Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani, Ashwini Bhide, P Velarasu, Suburban Collector Milind Borikar etc. were present.

According to reports, out of the total amount, INR 319.36 crores was sanctioned for District Annual General Plan, whereas INR 51.14 crores under Scheduled Caste Sub-Plan of Social Welfare Department and INR 5.59 crores for the sub-project outside tribal areas.

Under the district annual plan for the year 2021-22, demand to increase the outlay of INR 123.88 crores for various schemes like town development (beautification), housing (protection wall), energy, education, transport, tourism, government office and administrative buildings etc. will be put forth in the state level meeting, said Aaditya Thackeray.

The people's representatives raised various issues in their constituencies. He also demanded that adequate funds be made available for various development works. Accordingly, the concerned departments should take note of it and also provide funds for development works, added Thackeray.

Aaditya Thackeray said that all the administrations did a good job during the coronavirus crisis last year. Now vaccination drive is off to a good start. ‘My Family, My Responsibility’ campaign was successfully implemented in the suburbs last year. Now, while planning for the next financial year, Mumbai's development will be boosted along with overcoming the novel COVID-19 crisis. He said that by taking action on all the issues raised by the people's representatives in today's meeting, we will develop good quality infrastructure in Mumbai in the near future.

Besides, Skills Development Minister Nawab Nawab Malik said that the issue of road widening is important while emphasising on infrastructure development in Mumbai suburbs. In addition, the work of improving the railway station area will have to be given priority. Improvements are expected in various railway station areas like Govandi, Kurla etc. For this, we will review and submit proposals for the development of station areas in the western suburbs and eastern suburbs.
