Parksite - Using their right to vote is the responsibility of every citizen but 6000 residents of Hanuman Nagar area in Parksite locality have decided to boycott the BMC elections. They are taking this extreme step as their problems are not being solved from last 23 years. As many as 13 housing societies have decided to boycott these elections as a protest of apathy of political parties towards their woes. The SRD scheme was started 23 years ago in Hanuman Nagar and since then the residents of these societies are struggling to get their various demands fulfilled. Some discrepancies in these housing societies were left unattended by the developer. The residents followed their issues with the local leaders from all political parties but in vain. Sandip Yeole, an activist of the Parksite Swayamvikas Andolan Samiti, while talking to Mumbai Live has alleged, “This is not the welfare state. It is run by builders.” These residents have recently received a notice issued by deputy collector to vacant their houses. They have demanded that this notice should be withdrawn and developer should be thrown out of this place and we should be allowed to develop our societies and investigation of those who duped us should be conducted.
