Shiv Sena’s Aditya Thackeray has broken his silence on the recent incident in Wadala wherein up to 30 members of Sena thrashed an individual named Hiramai Tiwari for posting a social media post which said that CM Uddhav Thackeray’s comparison of the Jamia Millia crackdown with Jallianwala Bagh massacre was wrong.

Aditya Thackeray, commenting on the incident said: “Law and order is a subject of the police and shouldn't be taken into anyone's hands.” He posted the party’s statement on Twitter with the words “our statement on trolls and reactions”.

“On December 19, I posted that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's comparison of Jamia Millia incident with Jallianwala Bagh was wrong. After that 25-30 people thrashed me and tonsured my head," Tiwari had said speaking to ANI after the incident.

This was in response to CM Uddhav Thackeray’s statement after the Jamia Millia incident saying “What happened at Jamia Millia Islamia University is like Jallianwala Bagh. Students are like a 'Yuva bomb'. So we request the Central government to not do what they are doing with students.”

Multiple students were injured while protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act at Jamia Millia Islamia, leading to the opposition, including Shiv Sena, to criticize the Central Government over the subsequent police crackdown.

Protests all over the country have defied police orders against group gatherings and collectively raised their voices against the government’s new amendment. Multiple protestors have lost their lives during the protests, which has, in turn, intensified the demonstrations even further.
