As you may be aware, that there are anti-NRC, CAA protests raging all across the country. Some people are even protesting against the police action taken against the students of Jamia Milia Islamia. At that time, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had compared police action in the Jamia Millia Islamia campus to the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. According to police sources, a couple of days ago, Hiramani had made certain derogatory responses to this statement.

Hiramani is a self-confessed BJP sympathiser and has claimed that soon after he posted his remark, he had started getting threats. He even claims that he himself realised that his remarks were not in good taste and hence deleted the same.

However, this was perhaps not enough for the people that attacked Hiramani. According to his police complaint, some "Shiv Sainiks from Antop Hill area in south Mumbai, led by Samadhan Jakdeo and Prakash Hasbe", allegedly barged into his home at Shantinagar on Sunday afternoon, dragged and pushed him around, punched and beat him and even shaved his head outside his home.

Hiramani case has been registered but his comment has sparked tension in the area and he has been sent a notice by Mumbai Police under section 149.
