119 People Arrested For Alleged Involvement In Malegaon, Nanded Violence

Till Wednesday night, November 17, the Nashik rural police, as well as, the Nanded district police arrested 119 people who were claimed to have been involved in the violence that occurred in Malegaon and Nanded, late last week, stated reports.

Whilst the violence in Nanded and Malegaon subsided in hours, the one in Amravati city lasted for longer. Additionally, the curfew and Section 144 has been extended till Friday, November 19 in Amravati. It has been reported that the alleged communal attacks in Tripura, triggered protests in several parts of Maharashtra which took a violent turn.

Based on reports, in Nanded, four FIRs have been lodged at various police stations against the claimed organizers and the rioters. 67 people have been arrested. Earlier this week, 50 people were arrested by the police in connection with the incidents of stone-pelting that occurred in Amravati.

According to certain accounts, four vehicles were damaged due to the pelting of stones, whilst one scooter was also burnt. Five to six police vehicles were also damaged by the mob through the pelting of stones. It is estimated that the aggregate loss is INR 2 lakh and INR 1 lakh for private property and police property, respectively.

On the other hand, the Nashik rural police lodged five FIRs in regards to the violence that occurred in Malegaon and arrested 52 people, stated Sachin Patil, superintendent of Nashik rural police, reported the Indian Express.
