ASHA workers protest
Azad Maidan - ASHA (Accredited Social Health Activist) workers protested against the State Government for their rights at Azad Maidan on Thursday. Bhagwanrao Deshmukh, the leader of the protest along with the volunteers demanded a surge in their salary - Rs 7,000/- for volunteers and Rs 12,000/- for the Block-head. They even want an increase of Rs 1,000/- in the amount stipulated for their uniform which was Rs 600 earlier. ASHA is a community of health workers established by the Government of India's Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, as part of the National Rural Health Mission.
