The Supreme Court on Friday February 17 rejected the Thackeray faction's demand to set up a seven-member constitution bench to review the Nabam Rebia verdict on the powers of the Speaker to disqualify MLAs. Also the next hearing has been fixed for February 21. After this Shiv Sena (Thackeray group) MP Sanjay Raut gave the first reaction. "We have made it clear that this case should go to a 7-judge bench," said Sanjay Raut. He was speaking in response to ABP Maja.

Sanjay Raut said, “It was expected that a decision will be taken today. Now the court has said that it is not easy to decide on this. However, the court will have to decide after hearing both sides. The court made it clear that a decision cannot be taken keeping the Nabam Rebia judgment in front of one's eyes."

“We have made it clear that the matter should go to a 7-judge bench. Its hearing may take time. However, in the end, the case will be resolved amicably and the result will be transparent in front of the entire country. In the future, no government will be able to be overthrown on the strength of a majority bought with money," expressed Sanjay Raut.

“The issue of disqualification is very important. In our view, all rebel MLAs are disqualified. Now, the Election Commission and the Supreme Court have to authenticate it. We will try to refer this matter to a 7-judge bench. Finally, the Constitution Bench will have to decide how long an extra-constitutional, illegal government will run," Raut also mentioned.
