The local body elections in the state will be announced soon. The draft ward structure has been announced by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in the state. Therefore, it is certain that the campaigning will start soon after the Ganesh festival in the state. 

The draft ward structure of all the important municipalities in the state including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Pimple Chinchwad, Nagpur has been announced. Citizens will get an opportunity to raise objections and suggestions on this draft structure.

Suggestions and objections are to be filed till September 4. After that, a hearing on the objections filed will be held between September 5 and 12. After the hearing, the Municipal Commissioner will submit the final ward structure to the Urban Development Department in the next two days, i.e. by September 15.

The draft ward structure of many A, B, and C class municipalities, including Mumbai, has been announced. This includes the municipalities of Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivli, Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Nagpur, and Nashik. Draft ward composition is considered the first step in local government elections.

The number of wards in Mumbai has been retained at two hundred and twenty-seven. In Navi Mumbai, 28 wards have been kept for 111 corporators, and in Kalyan-Dombivli, 31 wards have been kept for 122 seats. There are 41 wards in Pune, out of which 40 wards have been declared as four-member wards and one ward has been declared as five-member wards. 32 wards have been declared in Pimpri-Chinchwad and 31 wards have been declared in Nashik.

The draft ward structure plan for the upcoming municipal elections of Kalyan Dombivali Metropolitan Municipality was announced on Friday, August 22. Elections will be held for 122 wards from 32 panels, including 29 panels of four members and two panels of three members, for the election of 122 members.

The term of the Kalyan Dombivali Metropolitan Municipality ended in 2020, and since elections could not be held due to Corona, the municipality has been under administrative rule for the last 5 years.

This year's upcoming BMC elections are likely to be held for the first time using a multi-member panel system. Since there is a panel of four wards, candidates from all political parties and EC candidates will have to decide what the ward structure will be and which four wards have been combined to form the panel.
