The budget session of Maharashtra legislature started at 11 am after the address by the Governor C Vidyasagar Rao. The Governor in his address mentioned that the state government was working on the concept of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas". He added that the state government was working hard for the farmers with various irrigation and crop insurance packages.
The opposition cried foul as they said that it was disappointing that the Governor did not mention anything regarding waiving of the loans for drought affected farmers, even when the opposition had met the Governor in this regard. The state budget will be presented on 18th March, the session will go on until 7th April wherein as many as 23 bills will be discussed.
The members of the house were given laptops on the first day of the session. The session may be wrapped up early this week as State energy minister Chandrashekhar Bavankule will be attending his daughter's wedding on Monday.
