Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Tuesday reviewed the polls preparations in the state. However, there was no media interaction regarding the same. 

After reviewing the polls preparations in Haryana, a team led by Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora visited Maharashtra to discuss the same with Chief Electoral Officer Baldev Singh and additional chief electoral officer Dilip Shinde. 

Along with Arora, Election Commissioner Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra also participated in the process. During their visit, the ECI was informed about the voter awareness programmes carried out by the state election branch.

The Chief Election Commissioner also planned to meet the party leaders along with the concerned authorities and officials involved in the election work. Moreover, 2019 Maharashtra assembly election is likely to be conducted in one-phase. Therefore, security arrangments will be strengthened in order to maintain law and order.
