CM silences Sena on loan waiver for farmers

Mumbai – Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, while commenting on the discussions held by a delegation of ministers led by him on the issue of loan waiver for farmers in Maharashtra, on Saturday claimed that the Union Government is positive on the state’s demand and assured to support the state.

Meanwhile, the Shiv Sena which was aggressively pushing the demand for loan waiver to farmers, lowered its tone after the CM’s speech in the Legislative Assembly on Saturday. Clearing the party stand, Shiv Sena MLA Vijay Auti said that the State government is ready to bear its part in the loan waiver for farmers and the Central government is also positive on this issue. Hence, Shiv Sena is withdrawing its protest on this issue. The party would now co-operate with the State government in getting bills passed in the State Legislature, he said.

Taking a dig at Shiv Sena, leader of opposition in Legislative Council Dhananjay Munde alleged that Shiv Sena has adopted a policy of double standards. Till yesterday, Sena was saying that it would allow the government to present the state budget but now the tiger of Sena has become silent. The Sena is implementing the policy to be in the power and play politics on the issue of loan waiver from farmers, he alleged.
