Congress awards tickets to rebels

Mumbai - Two corporators who had raised a flag of revolt have succeeded to bag Congress party’s ticket for the BMC elections. Their names figured in the first list of Congress party that was announced on Tuesday. Asha Koparkar, the wife of Suresh Koparkar who had revolted against the party during last Assembly election, is being given party ticket from ward no. 110 while corporator Usha Kamble who had voted against the party candidate in M ward chairperson’s election also got the ticket from ward no. 148. The first list of Congress party is said to be dominated by Narayan Rane supporters including Pravin Nalawade, Jagdish Amin, Priyatama Sawant, Seema Mahurkar, Supriya More, Vitthal Lokre and many others. The list also include 19 current corporators while relatives of corporators such as Abhay, son of Rajendra Prasad Choubey, corporator Neha Payhi’s father Vinay, Shivanand Shetty’s sister Vijayalaxmi, Shweta Koregaonkar, Ajanta Yadav’s husband Rajpati Yadav, Pramod Mandrekar’s wife Priti, former leader of opposition Dnyanraj Nikam’s daughter Nikita have also bagged the tickets. Former corporators Puran Doshi, Gautam Sable, Vitthal Lokre have been given tickets for the BMC elections.
