On 23 January 2017, a few corporators joined the Congress in the presence of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee president and MP Ashok Chavan.
Many of the leaders who belong to the Communist Party of India (M), NCP, BJP, Shramjivi Sanghatna’s former minister Rajendra Gavit joined the Congress on Monday.
Among the leaders who joined BJP included communist party leader Shivram Girdhar, BJP and taluka level workers.
