Amid the lack of stability in Maharashtra Congress, it is being speculated that senior party leader Kripashankar Singh may join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The assumptions were increased after Singh met BJP MLA Prasad Lad who is considered a close aide to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. 

After 2019 Lok Sabha elections, several Congress leaders have decided to shift their loyalties to the BJP. Opposition leader of Maharashtra Legislative Assembly is also set to join the BJP. 

Earlier, in the political circle, the discussions regarding Kripashankar Singh's shift to BJP and his disappointment with the Congress were being initiated. However, there has been no official announcement regarding the same and the conversation between Singh and Lad has not been made public.

Recently, Mumbai Congress President Milind Deora had organised a review meeting to address the defeat in 2019 general elections. In the meeting, leaders including Sanjay Nirupam, Priya Dutt and Urmila Matondkar were invited. However, only Eknath Gaikwad was present for the meeting at the party’s city unit office.
