After the fall of BJP government in Karnataka, Mumbai Congress President Sanjay Nirupam made a controversial statement on Karnataka Governor saying that he has set a record for being loyal and people would name their dogs after Vajubhai Vala.

However, after making these remarks, Nirupam apologised on Twitter for his statement. In his tweet, he had also demanded resignation from the Governor for trying to kill the democracy.

Earlier, Karnataka Governor invited the BJP to form the government in the state, on the basis of it being the largest party – without a majority – and gave them 15 days to prove their majority in the assembly. To this, the opposition did not react well and Congress filed a petition in the Supreme Court against the same.

Supreme Court’s verdict of dismissing the governor’s decision and giving only 24 hours to Yeddyurappa’s government to prove their majority led to the fall of BJP government in the state. Yeddyurappa spoke in the assembly and resigned as the CM even before the floor test ordered by Supreme Court. After that, the opposition leaders and parties have been criticising the governor for his decision and are demanding his resignation.
