Demonetisation challenged in High Court

Mumbai – Two senior lawyers have moved the Bombay High Court requesting the court to take a suo moto cognizance of the Union government’s decision to abolish currency notes of the denomination of Rs 500 and Rs 1000. According to information, Adv Jamshed Mistry and Adv Jabbar Singh moved the high court’s vacation bench on Wednesday with an argument that government’s decision caused unprecedented inconvenience to the common man. The presiding judge of the vacation bench, Justice MS Karnik, has directed the lawyers to put up their case before a regular bench due to several questions of law involved in this matter.
