Devendra Fadnavis, former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, earlier on Saturday, November 28, stated that even though he does not subscribe to the opinions of Arnab Goswami and Kangana Ranaut, he was not in favour of suppressing the voices that criticized the government.

Fadnavis, in his statement, was referring to the events that followed after the latter’s statement that she feared the Mumbai police more than the “movie mafia” and her comparison of Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The actor’s row with the Maharashtra government escalated further when Mumbai’s civic body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) demolished her office in Bandra’s Pali Hill for “structural violations”.

Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court has stated that the demolition carried out by the BMC was illegal and that the civic body’s intent was malicious. The court was presiding over a petition filed by Ranaut, seeking that the partial demolition carried out by the BMC on September 9 be declared illegal.

On the other hand, according to Fadnavis, as the MVA government completed a year, he stated that it had nothing to show on the governance front in its first year after coming to power. Speaking to the media on Saturday, Fadnavis accused the Thackeray-led government of halting all developmental works initiated during the previous regime. Moreover, he pointed out that the farmers were facing a huge crisis due to the impact of the cyclone, unseasonal rain and floods in different parts of the state. Furthermore, he claimed that the state government had failed to provide enough relief to the farmers.
