Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday rejected the claims made by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Anant Kumar Hegde who said that he did not take any policy decision as CM or caretaker CM. This comes after BJP MP Anant Kumar Hegde made remarks stating that the swearing-in of Devendra Fadnavis as CM for such short period was “drama” to protect funds meant for development work worth ₹40,000 crores from being misused.

While addressing a rally in Yallapor of Uttara Kannada constituency, Hegde said that the BJP had “staged a drama” to save funds from the Shiv Sena-led Maha Vikas Aghadi and it took Fadnavis only “15 hours” to make sure that the money was returned to the centre.

All allegations are false. No money has been returned to the centre and no policy decision was taken by him as caretaker chief minister,” said Devendra Fadnavis.

While talking to the reporters, Fadnavis clarified that neither did the central government ask for any funds nor did the Maharashtra government fulfill any such request. Fadnavis further said that as far as the role of Maharashtra government in the bullet train project is concerned, it is restricted to land acquisition only.

Those who understand the accounting system of the centre and states, they would know no such transfer of funds takes places,” Fadnavis said.
