Dhangar community demands reservation

Azad Maidan - The Dhangar community claims it has not been covered under reserved categories since 1956 as the community's name has been registered as ‘Dhangadh’ and not ‘Dhangar’. For the last 60-65 years, they have been kept away from the reservations because of the misspelling, they allege. The Maharani Ahilyadevi Samaj Prabodhan Manch has approached the Supreme Court in this regard and also staged a protest at Azad Maidan on Tuesday. The Dhangar community alleges that it should be included in the Scheduled Tribes and that despite proofs, the state government has not taken any steps.
