Encounter specialist Pradeep Sharma is set to join Shiv Sena on Friday evening ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. The sources informed that if Sharma is inducted in the party, he is likely to contest the assembly polls from Nalasopara assembly constituency.

This comes after Pradeep Sharma resigned from the police force. Sharma served in the police department for 35 years. Currently, he is indulged in various types of social work through his NGO - PS Foundation.

The political speculations suggest that Sharma’s name is being proposed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena alliance for the Nalasopara assembly constituency which is a non-Marathi dominated area.

Pradeep Sharma was earlier suspended from the police service over alleged fake encounter of gangster Lakhan Bhaiya. Earlier in 2008, along with Sharma, 13 other policemen were also suspended in the case. However, in 2013, the encounter specialist was acquitted and returned to his job.
