Mumbai – In Mumbai, this is a time of shifting political allegiance for petty gains ahead of the BMC polls. There is no dearth of political activists who have deserted their parent party, joined another in next few days (sometimes within an hour or so) and wishing to fight election on new party’s symbol. On Tuesday, NCP activists and an independent corporator joined the BJP in city. Independent corporator Makrand Narvekar, who was until now supporting Shiv Sena in the BMC, his better half Harshda Narvekar, NCP’s district president Asif Bhamla, Yuva Sena’s Swapnil Yerunkar and others joined BJP on Tuesday.

While talking to Mumbai Live, Asif Bhamla claimed that he used to feel suffocated in the NCP. He also said that he is a good friend of city BJP chief Ashish Shelar and hence he joined the BJP. He also said that minority community members should join the BJP in large numbers so that they understand the difference between BJP and other political parties. It is to be mentioned here that chief minister Devendra Fadnavis had attended a programme organized by Bhamla in Bandra area. Since then, there were rumours of his joining the BJP. Meanwhile, Narvekar said that people in his ward were wishing to join the ‘progressive party’ like the BJP and hence he fulfilled their wish by joining that party.
